The four-year-old was hardly out of first gear as he tracked the pace and then sent his mount clear in the final two furlongs.
Jockey Wayne Hutchinson said: “He is a horse I have liked at home and he has shown a lot and obviously won well first time at Sandown. He gave me a fantastic feel this time and I am sure on the back of this win Warren will try and find a Listed bumper for him to run in and then maybe look towards Cheltenham in March as the long-term goal.
“He is very professional for a four-year-old and he has a bright future. I think he would have the class for a Cheltenham bumper as he stays, has a gear or two and his biggest asset is he has a great attitude for a young horse. He put the race to bed at Southwell in a couple of strides and I could not speak highly enough of the horse. He has carried on to the track everything that he has shown at home.”
Greatrex said: “He’s class. Wayne said it was no more than just a piece of work for him. Cheltenham is the objective, but I haven’t decided if he will run before.”
Meanwhile, Nicky Henderson believes this year's Cheltenham Festival may come a season too soon for impressive weekend winner Bobs Worth.
The six-year-old made it two wins from two starts over timber at Prestbury Park on Saturday but his trainer is far from certain he will return to the track for the showpiece meeting in March, although he is currently best-price 20/1 (Totesport) for the Supreme Novices Hurdle.
Henderson said: "He won his bumper and then over hurdles at Kempton. The step up in trip at Cheltenham looked to suit him well. I would possibly think the EBF Final at Newbury could suit him, although we might really have blown that out of the water in that it's a handicap and he might be getting horribly high in the ratings."
He added: "That might be a more realistic objective that Cheltenham, but we'll see. He's only a baby and perhaps another year before he gets to Cheltenham might be the sensible route. I wouldn't rule anything out and I wouldn't rule anything in."
Another horse that could be heading to the Cheltenham Festival to take on Cue Card in the Supreme Novices Hurdle is Venetia Williams’ new recruit Credit Swap.
The six-year-old changed codes after moving from Michael Wigham’s stable where he last appeared to win the valuable Cambridgshire handicap at Newmarket in October.
On Wednesday he was tackling an extra seven furlongs in trip when taking the first division of the Winderpool Novices Hurdle over two miles and won by four-and-a-half lengths at odds of 4/1 from David Elsworth’s 11/4 favourite, Alarazi.
Concerned about Credit Swap’s enthusiasm, jockey Aiden Coleman held him up in mid-division before coming to challenge approaching the last and using his flat speed to quicken clear on the run in.
Coleman said: "At home he is always dropped in and can be quite keen, but today he was good. Hopefully he'll do as good at this game as he did on the Flat".
Credit Swap is currently best-price 33/1 (Victor Chandler and Stan James) for the Supreme Novices'.
